In the spotlight: David Walsh

In an ongoing series we are highlighting the young players who are part of JD Club NI, the Irish Football Association’s elite development programme.

Name: David Michael Walsh.

Age: 15.

School: Portadown College. 

Which JD Club NI team do you play for? 2002s (Under-16).

Which club do you play for? 
Linfield FC Academy.

Any previous clubs? Portadown Youth.

Position: Goalkeeper.

Favourite team/s? Manchester United. 

Favourite player/s – who inspires you? David de Gea.

What’s the best goal you have scored? Unfortunately as a goalkeeper I don’t get an opportunity to score goals!

Do you like any other sports apart from football? 
Volleyball, rugby, badminton.

What’s the best team you have played against? 
Manchester United’s U16s.

What’s the best pitch you have played on? 
Carrington (ManchesterUnited’s training complex).

What’s the best stadium you have visited? 
Nou Camp, Barcelona.

Most difficult opponent – who is the best player you have come up against? 
Billy Gilmour(16-year-old Scottish midfielder who plays for Chelsea’s U18s).

Any other interesting facts about you that we should know? I have represented the County Armagh junior squad for the past two years at SuperCup NI. I have also been on trial at five different English clubs since August 2017, including Manchester United.
