Women's Challenge Cup

Cliftonville Ladies secured an historic treble in style as they defeated Lisburn Rangers Ladies in the Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup final.

Striker Caitlin McGuinness scored a treble as the ‘Invincibles’, who won this season’s NIFL Women’s Premiership with a 100 per cent record, defeated Rangers by five goals to nil.

Only two goals separated the sides when they met in the NIFL Women’s League Cup decider back in June.

However, this time the Reds were ruthless in front of 1654 spectators at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park.

Cliftonville secured the league and Irish Cup double for the first time in their history thanks to the hat-trick from player of the match Caitlin McGuinness and goals from Louise McDaniel and Victoria Carleton. It’s also the first time they have won the treble of league, Irish Cup and League Cup.

First contested in 2005, the IFA Women's Cup is Northern Ireland's premier competition for women's football teams.

Glentoran Women (previously Glentoran Belfast United) are the most successful side in the competition, having won it eleven times, with Linfield Women (previously Linfield Ladies) the next most successful with three victories.

Winners over the previous 10 seasons have included:

Cliftonville Ladies (2024) Glentoran Women (2023), Glentoran Women (2022), Glentoran Women (2021), Glentoran Women (2019), Glentoran Women (2018), Sion Swifts Ladies (2017), Linfield Ladies (2016), Cliftonville Ladies (2015), Linfield Women (2014).
