The Irish Football Association Foundation and Tennis Fundamentals have joined forces to offer a skills camp with a difference.
The camp is part of the Irish FA Foundation's extensive holiday football camps programme, which is running at over 50 venues across Northern Ireland this Summer. But it is offering a mix of football and tennis rather than the usual sole focus on football.
Every attendee will receive a free adidas 2018 World Cup football, a tennis racquet and a frisbee.
Ian Stewart, the Irish FA Foundation’s Grassroots Development Manager, explained: “We are always trying to enhance our camps and dual sport camps are a way for us to reach out to user groups who would not normally consider playing football.
“This camp will allow children to try a new sport and work on transferable skills from within both sports in a fun, safe and inclusive environment.”
At the camp, which is running at Wallace Park in Lisburn from 22-24 August, children aged 5-14 will be able to experience quality coaching in tennis as well as football. The coaching sessions will begin at 2pm and finish at 5pm each day.
Ian added: “Through this fun-filled camp we are aiming to develop a multi-sport approach to skills development as well as provide another opportunity for children to get active in the Easter holidays.
“With a maximum of 40 places available we expect this camp to fill up very quickly so I would encourage anyone interested to get booked on.”
