Mascot Design Competition

As part of the legacy programme for the UEFA Under 19 Women's Championship (2017) the Irish FA is asking all children of primary school age to design a mascot for the tournament.

This unique opportunity will involve the creation of a full size mascot costume based on the winning design that will visit a variety of engagement and legacy projects in the lead up to, and during, the Championship.  The winning design will also be digitalised and used in a number of publications and promotional items relating to the tournament.

Applicants are encouraged to be as creative as possible but should consider designs that reflect some of the following elements:

  • Women's football
  • Northern Ireland
  • Having fun playing the game

The pupil producing the winning design will have the opportunity to present the mascot at a special event organised in their school. In addition, they will receive a £100 gift voucher to spend in JD Sports, tickets to the UEFA Under 19 Women's Championship 2017 (for them and 4 family members) and a £500 sports equipment voucher for their school.

Designs will be shortlisted by a panel of Irish FA staff, Northern Ireland Under 19 female international players, independent members from local authorities and representatives from the Northern Ireland Executive.

Sara Booth, Tournament Director for the UEFA Women’s Under 19 Championship, commented:

“This is the first is a series of legacy and community engagement programmes that the Association is planning to deliver in relation to this tournament and we are very excited about the launch of the mascot competition”.

Completed mascot designs should be posted to Mascot Design Competition, Irish FA, National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, Donegall Avenue, Belfast, BT12 5LW or emailed to uwu19@irishfa.com

Conditions of the competition are as follows:

  • Children must be of primary school age and attend a primary school in Northern Ireland
  • All requested information must be completed on the design form
  • Closing date for applications is 27 May at 5pm.  Entries received after this date will not be considered
