St Louise’s reach semi-finals of Electric Ireland Junior Schools’ Cup

The junior team from St Louise’s Comprehensive College are doing their best to make it a double for the west Belfast school in this year’s Electric Ireland Schools’ Cup finals.

The under-18s from St Louise’s are already through to the decider of the Electric Ireland Senior Schools’ Cup where they will face Mercy College.

And now the school’s junior team (under-16s) have reached the semi-finals of the Junior Schools’ Cup with a super hat-trick from Carla Devine helping them to get there.

St Louise’s met Strabane’s Holy Cross College at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in Cookstown in their quarter-final tie.

It was a very open encounter before St Louise’s took the game by the scruff of the neck towards the end of the first half – and scored two goals in quick succession through Devine.

Despite being behind at the break, Holy Cross had the better of the exchanges in the early part of the second half.

As the game reached its last quarter they cranked things up further and two quickfire goals from Teegan Lynch and Tara Doherty set up an exciting final 15 minutes.

With the game hanging in the balance, however, Devine decided to take things into her own hands - and she neatly slotted home her third goal of the day five minutes from the end to secure a 3-2 win for St Louise’s.
