Youth Cup - Tie of the 2nd round

Sundrenched Coleraine university was the venue for the second round of the Harry Cavan youth cup between Coleraine Colts and Linfield Swifts.

The home side started the most confidant and Linfield too a bit of time to settle down but when this happened they took the game by the scruff of the neck.

After 11 mins Linfields Reece Neil opened the score and within another 8 mins he had doubled his tally with a goal that came from sustained pressure  on the hard working Coleraine keeper.

As the game progressed Linfield became more dominant and on the 23 min their no 9 Paul Smith got the 1 st of his 4 goals with a excellent move which saw the Coleraine keeper left stranded on the corner of his 18yrd box as Smith rounded him and slotted the shot home.

Again on came Linfield and a well executed move between Adam McCallum and Callum Byers which saw Byers score from inside the 6yrd box on the 32 min.

Linfield stepped up the tempo again on the 38th min and Smith again struck after beating the keeper and slotting past him from 18 yds.

The Blues hadn't finished and on the 41st min Jack McAllister scored with a goal line tap in.

Half Time: Coleraine Swifts 0 - 6 Linfield Rangers

The second half started with that man Smith striking the post with 2 mins gone but it wasn't long before he sealed his hat trick with a one on one with the keeper and made no mistake in finding the net in the 55th min.

One min later Linfield’s Matty Johnston made a run from midfield and passed the ball into the net passing the advancing keeper with 56 mins gone.

Reece Neil got his hat trick on 58 mins with a deflected shot which the Coleraine keeper could do nothing about.

73 mins gone and our hat trick hero Smith added another to his tally with another clinical finish.

The final goal of the Match came on 80 mins with a well delivered lob of the keeper by Linfields no17 Matty Johnstone.

Final Score: Coleraine Colts 0-11 Linfield Rangers
