Sheffield Wednesday secure loan deal for Bailey Peacock-Farrell

Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has joined League One side Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old Northern Ireland number one, who signed for the Clarets from Leeds United two years ago, was back-up keeper to Nick Pope at Turf Moor last season which restricted him to just eight appearances for Sean Dyche's side.

With Dyche having brought in the experienced Welsh international Wayne Hennessey for the forthcoming campaign, the Darlington-born netminder will be hoping his move to Hillsborough will guarantee him regular first team football next season.

Clarets’ goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer told the Burnley website:

“It’s a great opportunity for him to go and play a lot of games at probably the biggest club in that league who will be looking to challenge for promotion.

“Having brought Wayne in to complement the group we already had plenty of cover, so we felt it was the right club at the right time for him to go to and play some games.

“Hopefully he will get as many games as possible and come back and be pushing for the number one spot.”
