Wylie leaves role as Head of Women’s Elite Performance

Alfie Wylie has left his role as Head of Women’s Elite Performance after 16 years with the Irish Football Association.

Wylie joined the association in 2005 as the Northern Ireland senior women’s team manager, a role he held until 2019 when he was appointed to the newly created role of Head of Women’s Elite Performance.

That role resulted in him overseeing girls’ talent pathway programmes, including the Irish FA Electric Ireland Girls’ Regional Excellence Programme, the Green Arrows Programme and the Women’s Performance Academy at Ulster University.

During his time with the association Wylie has also led Northern Ireland’s youth international team programmes at U19, U17, U16 and U15 levels.

Irish FA Director of Women’s Football Angela Platt said: "We want to thank Alfie for his contribution to the success of the girls’ game. His decision follows discussions regarding the future plans of the women’s and girls’ elite performance programme, and he felt now was the right time for him to move on and explore other opportunities."
