Seaview and Mourneview to host Irish Cup semi-finals

Seaview Stadium in Belfast and Lurgan’s Mourneview Park will host the semi-finals of this season’s Samuel Gelston’s Whiskey Irish Cup.

Larne and Ballymena United are set to face each other at Seaview on Friday 31 March, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

And Dungannon Swifts and cup holders Crusaders will meet at Mourneview the following day (Saturday 1 April). The game is scheduled to start at 12.15 pm.

BBC Sport NI is to livestream both matches. They will be broadcast on the BBC Sport NI website and BBC iPlayer.

NIFL Premiership leaders Larne edged into the semi-finals by defeating Championship side Harland and Wolff Welders 1-0 on Friday night. Tiernan Lynch’s team needed a last minute winner to overcome the Welders at the Blanchflower Stadium.

Mid and East Antrim neighbours Ballymena also defeated a Championship side, Ballyclare Comrades, to reach the last four. David Jeffrey’s charges needed extra time to get past the Comrades on a 3-1 scoreline.

Also on Saturday Dean Shiels’ Dungannon Swifts shocked high flying Cliftonville 2-1 at Solitude to progress in the competition, while in another all-Premiership affair Stephen Baxter’s Crusaders produced a solid performance to defeat Glentoran by a goal to nil.
