Stay Onside Programme visits Hydebank on International Women's Day

As part of International Women's Day, The Irish FA Stay Onside Programme has been introduced to Women at Hydebank Wood College.

Stay Onside Liason Officer Mark Dennison and Domestic Women's Manager Gail Redmond firstly explained the course and finished off with a game of football.

About the reaction to the introduction of the programme, Mark Dennison said: "I think it was fantastic. It was quite overwhelming with the numbers that turned out for the presentation.

"We also then went out onto the pitch and it's a cold wet day but we had a big turnout there."

Gail Redmond also shared her thoughts on coaching the first session: "It was fantastic. We were in the unknown as we didn't know how many women would come and play but we had 14 women and it was brilliant.

"Our ethos is to foster and promote football for all and football can bring enjoyment in lots of peoples lives. Hopefully this programme does that."

The Irish FA Foundation ‘Stay Onside’ Programme is a series of programmes aimed at people to divert and deter them away from offending.

Participants are introduced to basic coaching skills, laws of the game, introduction to Futsal, mental health and finish by participating in a tournament before a Graduation Event.
