Irish FA Proud To Support UK Anti-Doping’s Clean Sport Week 2026

The Irish FA is proud to once again support UK Anti-Doping’s (UKAD) Clean Sport Week 2026, the annual national campaign that brings together sporting organisations and communities to champion clean, fair and drug-free sport across the UK.

Clean Sport Week 2026 takes place from 11-17 May and centres on the theme “Built not bought. 100% me.” The campaign reinforces a clear and consistent message: true sporting success is earned through commitment, development and integrity, not through shortcuts or risk-taking behaviours.

This year’s campaign places a particular focus on challenging misinformation surrounding Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs (IPEDs), including Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs). These substances are increasingly visible online and are often falsely presented as safe or legitimate options, despite being banned in sport and linked to significant health and career risks.

By supporting Clean Sport Week 2026, the Irish FA is reaffirming the importance of education in safeguarding both athlete welfare and the integrity of the game. Through continued education programmes and awareness initiatives, the association aims to ensure those involved in football understand their anti-doping responsibilities and the long-term consequences of decisions made throughout a sporting career.

Chris Wright, Anti-Doping & Integrity Education Officer at the Irish FA, said:

“The theme ‘Built not bought. 100% me.’ sends a really strong message, particularly to young athletes. Success in sport is earned through dedication, development and integrity, not through shortcuts that carry serious risks.

“We know that substances like SARMs are increasingly visible and often misunderstood, particularly by young athletes. Our focus is on delivering consistent, high-quality education that builds understanding over time, not just about banned substances, but about values, integrity and making responsible decisions throughout a sporting career.”

The Irish FA’s support for UKAD Clean Sport Week 2026 reflects its continued commitment to promoting clean, fair and informed sport, reinforcing the message that integrity and honest achievement sit at the heart of Northern Irish football.
