National Stadium to host Clearer Water Irish Cup semi-finals

Both of this season’s Clearer Water Irish Cup semi-finals will be played at the Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park, it was announced today.

The National Stadium is set to host the last four clash between Cliftonville and Dungannon Swifts on Friday 3 April and the tie between Larne and Coleraine on Saturday 4 April.

A repeat of last year’s final in Northern Ireland’s premier cup competition, the Reds v Swifts game will have a 7.45pm kick-off on 3 April.

The tie between the Inver Reds and the Bannsiders the following day is set to start at 3pm.

The NIFL Premiership quartet all got the better of NIFL Championship opposition in the quarter-finals.

Larne were the first of the four top flight teams to make it through to the last four of the competition.

The current Irish Premiership leaders, seeking their maiden Irish Cup triumph, defeated Glentoran in a penalty shoot-out at The Oval on Friday night after the teams finished level at 1-1 following 120 minutes of play.

Coleraine, who are sitting fourth in the table just now, secured their place in the last four on Saturday thanks to a 2-0 win against Limavady United.

That ‘home’ tie for Limavady was played at Coleraine’s Showgrounds home, which is the temporary base for Limavady while a new pitch is being laid at Limavady Showgrounds.

Cup holders Dungannon Swifts, meanwhile, continued their defence of the trophy with a 3-0 victory over Harland and Wolff Welders at Stangmore Park.

And Cliftonville set up the repeat of last year’s final when they defeated Loughgall by three goals to nil at Lakeview Park on Saturday.

Ticketing arrangements for both semi-finals will be announced in due course.
