Enniskillen Town United and Rosario YC II will meet in the final of the fonaCAB Craig Stanfield Junior Cup after two hard-fought semi-final victories on Wednesday night.
At Ferney Park, Enniskillen Town United overcame NFC Kesh in an all-Fermanagh & Western encounter, but only after a dramatic penalty shoot-out. The game was scoreless at the interval before Kesh took the lead just before the hour mark, when Jordan McClure headed home following a well-worked move involving David Kee.
Town United responded with 15 minutes of normal time remaining, as Conall Quinn displayed excellent technique to flick home a cross from Cathal Beacom and level the match. With no further goals, the tie was settled from the penalty spot, where Enniskillen Town United kept their composure to convert all five penalties and secure a 5-4 shoot-out victory.
In the second semi-final at Mill Meadow, NAFL Division 3A leaders Rosario YC II required extra time to see off a resilient Connor side.
After a scoreless 90 minutes, Rosario’s pressure finally paid off in the 96th minute when Daniel O’Reilly reacted quickest to a loose ball in the penalty area to break the deadlock.
Connor pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but were caught on the counter-attack in the 107th minute, with Ciaran Sherry calmly finishing to wrap up a two-goal win and send Rosario into the final.
