Northern Ireland WU19s set to play three Euro qualifiers in Belfast

Northern Ireland’s Women’s Under-19 team will face Kosovo, Cyprus and Latvia in Euro qualifiers over the coming week.

They will be competing in League B Group 3 in stage two of the qualifiers for the 2022-23 edition of UEFA Women’s U19 Euro – and the four-team mini tournament is being hosted in Northern Ireland, with the games staged at Seaview and Solitude in Belfast.

Interim coach Lynne Carroll has chosen a 20-strong panel for the qualifiers. Seventeen of the players took part in WU19 Euro 2023 League A qualifiers back in the autumn. The new faces are Lisburn Rangers Ladies pair Cerys Madden and Cara Tumelty along with Linfield Ladies midfielder Sienna Leckey.

Cyprus and Kosovo will kick off the mini tournament tomorrow (4 April) when they face each other at Seaview at 1pm.

And Northern Ireland’s first match is at the same venue tomorrow evening (7 o’clock kick-off). They will be up against Latvia WU19s.

Matchday two will see Kosovo take on Latvia at noon on Friday (7 April) at Solitude, while Northern Ireland are set to face Cyprus at Seaview on Friday. And that qualifier is also scheduled to start at noon.

Northern Ireland, who are top seeds in the group, will be at Seaview again next Monday for their final B3 match. That game against the Kosovans is due to kick off at noon. And Latvia and Cyprus will be meeting at the same time next Monday at Solitude.
