Captain Steven Davis is proud Northern Ireland battled past a tough Azerbaijan side to claim a vital three points.
Stuart Dallas scored a last minute winner in their FIFA World Cup qualifier to seal the win in Baku.
The win leaves Northern Ireland on 13 points in the group and on the result Davis said: "It's a huge result for us, we knew how difficult the match was going to be.
"It certainly proved that way and we were frustrated for long periods of the game. We didn't show the quality we have shown so far in this group.
"It was great character and spirit from the boys and we showed a bit of quality towards the end with the disguise from Jonny (Evans) and a great finish from Stuarty (Dallas)."
