Irish FA and Cancer Fund for Children celebrate 10 years of partnership

The Irish Football Association is proud to celebrate 10 years of partnership with Cancer Fund for Children, marking a decade of fundraising, raising awareness and creating special experiences for children, young people and families across Northern Ireland.

Since the partnership began, the Irish FA family, together with the incredible support of the Green and White Army, has helped raise more than £176,000 for Cancer Fund for Children.

The partnership has extended far beyond fundraising, with children and families welcomed to Northern Ireland international matches, unforgettable mascot experiences created, and awareness of the charity's vital services shared with supporters across the country.

To mark the milestone, representatives from the Irish FA recently visited Daisy Lodge, Cancer Fund for Children's therapeutic short break centre in Newcastle, to see first hand the difference the partnership has made.

Cormac McMullan, Regional Community Fundraiser & Engagement Lead at Cancer Fund for Children, said:

"Every week in Northern Ireland, approximately three children and young people aged 0-24 are diagnosed with cancer.

"Across the last 10 years, the support we have received from the Irish FA has allowed us to provide vital support so these children and their families don't have to face this experience alone.

"The team at the Irish FA have gotten stuck into fundraising events, raised awareness of our services through their networks and allowed the families we support to create special memories by providing matchday tickets and mascot experiences.

"They have worked together to raise £176,000 and the team at Cancer Fund for Children couldn't be more grateful.

"It was great to welcome the Irish FA to our therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge, so they could see first-hand the impact of their efforts. We look forward to continuing this partnership in the years to come, working together to ensure every child gets the support they need, when they need it most."

Norrie Clarke, Head of Fan Experience at the Irish FA, said:

"As we enter our 10th year of partnership with Cancer Fund for Children, we want to thank the Green and White Army for their incredible generosity and continued support.

"It has been a privilege to welcome families to our international matches and give children the opportunity to walk out with the teams, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

"We remain committed to shining a light on the vital work Cancer Fund for Children does for families affected by cancer across Northern Ireland, and knowing we have the backing of the Green and White Army as we continue this journey is truly appreciated."

Every donation helps Cancer Fund for Children continue providing specialist support to children, young people and families when they need it most.
