Northern Ireland referee, Adam Jeffrey, has been appointed as an assistant referee for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship Final between Spain and Germany in Wales.
The appointment comes after an impressive tournament for the 32-year-old, who has officiated Germany v Denmark, Serbia v Ukraine, Spain v Germany and the semi-final between Ukraine and Germany.
Irish FA Head of Refereeing Andrew Davey said:
"Everyone involved in refereeing at the Irish FA is absolutely delighted to see Adam Jeffrey appointed as assistant referee for the UEFA Men's Under-19 Championship Final.
Adam began refereeing in 2013 before becoming an assistant referee in 2014. He was promoted to the NIFL Premiership in 2016, attended UEFA's prestigious CORE programme in 2019, and became a FIFA Assistant Referee in 2021.
Davey added:
"It's a fantastic achievement and one that reflects the hard work, commitment and consistency Adam has shown over many years. Being selected to officiate in a UEFA final is a huge honour, and it's great to see his performances recognised on such a big stage."
He also highlighted the wider significance of the appointment for refereeing in Northern Ireland.
"His success is also a real boost for refereeing here in Northern Ireland. It shows our young officials that there are opportunities to reach the highest levels of the game through dedication, hard work and a willingness to keep learning."
Congratulating Adam ahead of the final, Davey said:
"We're all incredibly proud of Adam and wish him every success in the final. I know he'll enjoy the occasion and do what he always does, represent the Irish FA with professionalism and pride."
