Portsmouth have signed Northern Ireland under-21 international Eoin Kenny for an undisclosed fee from League of Ireland side Dundalk.
The 20-year-old striker, who has won eight U21 caps, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Fratton Park, tying him to the South Coast club until the summer of 2029.
Pompey reportedly beat out competition from several English clubs, including Luton Town and Lincoln City, to secure the signature of the promising young attacker who scored 22 goals in 94 appearances during his time at Dundalk.
“We’re delighted to welcome Eoin to the club,” Pompey boss John Mousinho told the club website. “I’m excited to see him continue the impressive development he has made over the past few years.
“We feel that he can do exactly that in this environment and has all the attributes you need to succeed in the Championship.
“He’s a young attacking player who is capable of getting fans off their seats with the way he likes to take on opposition defenders.”
The arrival of Eoin Kenny at Fratton Park will boost the Northern Ireland contingent to three, as he links up with former Glentoran and Dungannon Swifts midfielder Terry Devlin and fellow Under-21 striker Makenzie Kirk.
Meanwhile, another under-21 international, Josh Clarke, is also on the move, having made the switch from Scottish Championship outfit Partick Thistle to League One side Doncaster Rovers.
Rovers manager Grant McCann has signed Clarke on an initial loan deal, with the intention of converting it into a permanent contract in January.
On the signing of Clarke, goalkeeping coach Kyle Letheren said: “I’m delighted to welcome Josh to the club. He is a highly thought-of young goalkeeper with an outstanding pedigree.
“We’ve spent a lot of time watching him over the last couple of months, and throughout that period he has consistently shown all the attributes, character and mentality we look for when recruiting goalkeepers.
“His potential is clear, but just as importantly, his attitude and willingness to improve stood out to us from the very beginning.
The 21-year-old former Celtic goalkeeper, who was an unused substitute in Northern Ireland’s internationals against Guinea and France last month, spent the first half of last season on loan at Partick Thistle before agreeing to join them on a permanent basis in February.
Clarke told the Rovers website. “I am really looking forward to getting going,” he told the Rovers website. “I have had a walk around the stadium, and it seems like a great place to be a part of, and conversations with Grant and Kyle made it an easy decision to sign here.”
