Hamilton joins Sunderland Women on loan

Sunderland Women have signed Northern Ireland international Caragh Hamilton on loan until the end of the season.

Hamilton joins from fellow Women’s Super League 2 side Nottingham Forest, having played 13 league games for Forest so far this season.

The versatile 29-year-old, who can play as a winger, a wing-back or in central defence, has won 53 caps for Northern Ireland and scored seven international goals.

Sunderland Head Coach Mel Reay said: "Caragh joins us with a wealth of championship and international experience.

"Adding strength and depth to our back line, we are pleased she will be finishing the season with us on Wearside."

Hamilton had two spells with NIFL Women's Premiership side Glentoran either side of a stint with Fylkir in Iceland in 2017. In 2023 she moved from the Glens to Lewes in England where she made 20 appearances. She switched to Forest from Lewes in August 2024.

Sunderland currently sit eighth in the WSL2 table, four points behind Nottingham Forest.
