Northern Ireland drawn in Group 3 of FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying

The Northern Ireland Senior Women will face off against Norway, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland and Slovakia in their FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying campaign.

The highest ranked side in the group is Norway who are 11th in the world & won the World Cup back in 1995. In recent years they finished runners up at the most recent European Championships.

However, the Women have fond memories of facing the Norwegians after their 3-1 win in 2011 at Mourneview Park with goals from Rachel Furness, Ashley Hutton and Kirsty McGuinness. All of whom are current members of Alfie Wylie's squad for the upcoming qualifiers.

Only one place below the Norwegians is another opponent in Group 3 and that's the Netherlands. The Dutch sit 12th in the rankings and made it to the round of 16 in the 2015 Women's World Cup.

To complete the group are the Republic of Ireland, who are currently ranked 32nd and Slovakia in 41st.

The first game will take place in September with a full fixture list to follow on irishfa.com.
