The Irish FA is proud to announce that the Community Cup will now be known as the Mary Peters Community Cup, recognising the outstanding contribution and long-standing support of Lady Mary Peters to the competition.
Lady Mary Peters has been a dedicated supporter of the tournament since its inception, championing its role in bringing communities together through football. The renaming of the trophy reflects her lasting impact and commitment. Lady Mary expressed that she is deeply honoured to have the competition named after her.
In a further boost for the competition, EE has been announced as the Principal Sponsor, ensuring that the Mary Peters Community Cup continues to thrive and reach even more communities in the years ahead.
With less than a month to go until kick-off, anticipation is continuing to build for what promises to be another fantastic celebration of grassroots football, community spirit and positive engagement across Northern Ireland.
Kelly Engstrom, Brand and Marketing Communications Director at EE and Plusnet, said: “We are proud to support the Mary Peters Community Cup. As the UK’s best network for families, and the lead sponsor of the Home Nations Football Associations, we pride ourselves on supporting all players both on and off the pitch.
“Through our sponsorship of the Mary Peters Community Cup, we continue to champion grassroots and disability football, ensuring the game is as inclusive as possible for players and fans alike.”
Keith Gibson, Inclusive Football & Sustainability Manager at the Irish FA Foundation, said: “Lady Mary Peters has been a passionate supporter of this competition from the very beginning and it is fitting that her name will now be permanently associated with it.
“The Mary Peters Community Cup is about much more than football. It brings communities together, creates opportunities for people of all ages and abilities and celebrates the positive impact the game can have across Northern Ireland. With the support of EE as Principal Sponsor, we look forward to continuing to grow the competition and reaching even more communities in the years ahead.”
