Clean Sport Week receives support from Irish FA

Clean Sport Week, the annual awareness drive run by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD), is once again being supported by the Irish Football Association.

Each year the initiative champions clean sport, education and anti-doping initiatives with sports across the UK. The theme for 2025 is “The Next Generation”.

A UKAD spokesperson said: “To ensure the future of our sport is a bright and clean one, it’s vital that we support and educate young people on anti-doping and inspire them to become proud clean athletes.

“A culture of clean sport is essential for the long-term health and wellbeing of athletes. Whether you’re a proud aspiring player/athlete on your clean sport journey, a parent/carer looking for the right tools to support your child in sport or a school or college wanting to teach your pupils about fair play, be sure to follow and get involved in Clean Sport Week.

“We encourage anyone in our sporting community that would like to learn more about anti-doping to sign up to UKAD’s Clean Sport Hub where there are free education courses for athletes, students, coaches and practitioners. “

Follow @ukantidoping on social media to see a range of educational and exciting content throughout the week, which runs from 19 to 23 May. For further information on UKAD’s Clean Sport Week initiative and the Clean Sport Hub visit ukad.org.uk.

Chris Wright, the Irish FA’s Anti-Doping and Integrity Education Officer, said: “Once again we are proud to support UKAD’s Clean Sport Week.

“It gives us the opportunity to highlight our continued and consistent commitment to supporting anti-doping initiatives, ensuring anti-doping education is embedded within our game and championing clean sport.

“This year’s theme of ‘The Next Generation’ is a superb embodiment of our next steps within anti-doping education as we look towards educating more players, player support personnel and parents than ever before across 2025.”

Wright is encouraging anyone involved in football in Northern Ireland to engage with Clean Sport Week. Any queries relating to anti-doping should be directed to antidoping.integrity@irishfa.com.
