Northern Ireland’s Cerebral Palsy team battled hard during their matches at the CP Men’s Euros this month.
In the group stages they were defeated by eventual finalists England and Ukraine and also lost out to Spain. Ukraine defeated hosts England in the decider.
And Northern Ireland were also beaten by Republic of Ireland in a play-off match to determine overall placings.
Despite the results, the squad enjoyed competing in the seven-a-side tournament, which was held at Loughborough University in Leicestershire.
The event, organised by the International Federation of CP Football, featured eight teams from across Europe, with Northern Ireland the lowest ranked competitors.
Team boss Stephen Watson said: “It was a busy 10 days playing against some of the top ranked teams in the world, however the boys did well, scoring the goal of the tournament against Ukraine, the team ranked number one in the world who went on to win the tournament.
“Fifteen-year-old Corey Kennedy also grabbed himself a goal against the world number one team in his first international tournament.
“I would like to thank all the players and staff for the efforts put in on and off the field and look forward to seeing what the next 12 months can bring for this squad.”
The Northern Ireland CP squad featured: Paul Cassidy (GK) (Belfast), Charlie Fogarty (Birmingham), Oisin McGurk (Magherafelt), Jordan Walker (Belfast), Sean Coyle (Coleraine), Corey Kennedy (Derry-Londonderry), Ryan Walker (Armagh), Charley Emerson (Belfast), Reuben Kingham (Moneyreagh), Finn Mullan (Carrickfergus).
