Women’s Under-19s squad for Euro qualifiers revealed

Northern Ireland Women’s Under-19 boss Gail Redmond has named her squad for Euro qualifiers this month.

The WU19s are set to compete at the top level in Round 2 of the qualifiers for WU19 Euro 2026.

Redmond’s side will be up against reigning European champions Spain, Portugal and Hungary in the League A Group 7 mini tournament.

On matchday one Northern Ireland are set to face hosts and second seeds Portugal at Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras on the western coast of Portugal. That game takes place this Sunday (12 April) at 5pm BST.

In their second game in the A7 mini tournament the WU19s will take on top seeds Spain, who won the WU19 Euros title for the fourth time in a row last summer. Nacional Do Jamor in the Oeiras municipality is the venue for the game next Wednesday (15 April) and kick-off time is 11am BST.

And the third seeds will be back at Nacional Do Jamor on Saturday 18 April for their final group game against fourth seeds Hungary, who won their League B group back in the autumn to earn promotion to League A. It’s scheduled to kick off at 5pm BST.

Northern Ireland retained their League A status for the second stage of qualifiers for WU19 Euro 2026 back in the autumn after finishing third in Group A6 following defeats to Italy and Switzerland and a win against Belarus.

The winners of seven League A groups this spring will join hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina in the finals from 27 June to 10 July.

Teams will be promoted and relegated for Round 1 of the next edition of the competition based on the final group rankings from the upcoming Round 2.

The seven teams placed fourth in their group in League A will be relegated to League B for Round 1 of the next edition.

The Northern Ireland WU19s squad for the games in Portugal this month is as follows:

Goalkeepers – Lily Jeffrey, Kate Smith.

Defenders – Zara Boyd, Daisy Conway, Ellen Hampton, Niamh Hassan, Lillie Horner, Tara Kerr.

Midfielders – Niamh Boothroyd, Emily Cassap, Zoe Knox, Clodagh Maguire, Darcie McNeill, Anastasija Stanyte.

Forwards – Rhianna Breen, Gracie Conway, Lucy Kelly, Jessica McGuinness, Mia Reilly, Lydia Thompson.
