The Northern Ireland Schools’ Football Association has announced the official start of its Schools’ Cup competitions for the 2025-26 season.
This season there will be national NISFA cup competitions for boys’ teams at Under-16 and Under-18 level and for girls’ U16 teams.
There has been a record number of entries across all categories, with schools from every corner of Northern Ireland stepping forward to compete.
NISFA says the surge in participation reflects the growing enthusiasm for schools’ football and the increasing opportunities for young players - both boys and girls - to showcase their talent on a national stage.
A spokesperson for NISFA said: “We thank our sponsors for their continued support of schools’ football and the inclusive opportunities they help create for pupils across all sectors.
“The heartbeat of school life often beats loudest on the pitch, and our Schools’ Cup competitions are a proud reflection of that spirit. The record number of entries this year is a testament to the passion and commitment of our schools, coaches and young athletes, and highlights the strength and future of football in Northern Ireland.
“As the season kicks off we look forward to exciting matches, emerging talent and the spirit of fair play that defines our competitions.”
