The Marc Bigger Memorial Cup took place in Belfast earlier this month showcasing the best in Northern Ireland Powerchair football.
Held at the Newforge Sports Complex on 3 and 4 August at the competition was hosted by local club Trailblazers PFC and supported by the Irish FA Foundation, Marc’s family, Charles Hurst Toyota and Clearer Water and honoured Marc Webber’s legacy as a founding player of Trailblazers.
Eight clubs participated, including teams from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and England. Trailblazers showcased their skills, winning their opening match against Dundee United Dynamos. However, after competitive matches, they were ultimately defeated by Teesside PFC in the semi-finals. Teesside went on to win the Cup, defeating DCU Storm 2-0 in the final.
James Thompson, Director of the Irish FA Foundation, attended the tournament and praised the skill and pace of play on display, expressing his ‘pride’ in the Foundation's support for the event.
