Marshall seals loan move to Bochum in 2. Bundesliga

Northern Ireland forward Callum Marshall will be playing his club football in Germany for the remainder of this season.

The West Ham United striker has just completed a six-month loan move to German side VfL Bochum in 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of club football in Germany.

Marshall spent last season on loan with League One side Huddersfield Town, scoring 10 goals and winning the club’s player of the year award.

The 21-year-old is set to link up with his new team-mates at Bochum’s winter training camp in Belek, Türkiye. Bochum are coached by former Manchester City forward Uwe Rösler.

The 2023 FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League South winner made his Premier League debut for the Hammers as a substitute at Arsenal in October and also featured off the bench against Brentford at London Stadium later the same month.

According to West Ham, the young forward will now continue his development at the Ruhrstadion, where 10th-placed Bochum will hope to mount a challenge to reach the promotion places in the second half of the season.

The Hammers’ website revealed Marshall, who has 14 caps for Northern Ireland, could make his debut for the German outfit at home to third-placed SV Darmstadt on Sunday 18 January.
