The tie between Limavady United and Linfield will be the livestreamed game in the sixth round of this season’s Clearer Water Irish Cup.
BBC Sport NI has announced it will stream the game on Friday 6 February (7.45pm kick-off).
Coleraine Showgrounds is the venue for the match, which will kick off a weekend of Clearer Water Irish Cup sixth round action. It is set to be streamed live on the BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport NI website and on the BBC Sport app.
Having first entered the Irish Cup just over a month after the club’s foundation in 1886, Linfield’s love affair with Northern Ireland football’s blue riband cup competition began in 1891 when a 4-2 win over Ulster secured what was the club’s first ever trophy. And the Blues have gone on to win the Irish Cup a record 44 times.
However, the Belfast side have not won it since 2021 when they defeated Larne in the decider. Their last appearance in the final was against Cliftonville in 2024, a game they lost 3-1 after extra time.
Limavady will be no pushovers as David Healy’s side aim to add to their record haul this season.
The Roesiders have had an impressive league campaign to date. They are currently neck and neck with leaders Annagh United at the top of the NIFL Championship. Only goal difference separates the two sides.
And in round five of the Clearer Water Irish Cup at the weekend they hit four as they swept past Lisburn Rangers at the Coleraine Showgrounds.
Mikhail Kennedy bagged the opener for Paul Owens’ side on 10 minutes before Rodney Brown doubled up in the closing moments of the first half.
Philip Lowry added a third not long after the interval, with Lewis Tosh hitting another just short of the hour. Rangers grabbed a consolation through Anthony Burns.
Limavady have never won the Irish Cup, although they have appeared in two finals. That was way back in 1885 and 1886, however they lost to Distillery on both occasions.
A goal from Isaac Baird was enough to give Linfield a narrow win over Bangor in round five of this season’s competition.
Baird netted just a couple of minutes from the break for the reigning NIFL Premiership champions with a precise header into the bottom left corner after connecting with a Dane McCullough cross.
