Trai Hume has been voted Northern Ireland senior men’s team player of the year by Northern Ireland fans.
Hume received the most votes in a social media poll among members of the Green and White Army.
The 23-year-old Sunderland defender/midfielder received his 2025 player of the year trophy at the Premier League club’s training ground, The Academy of Light, from Black Cats and international team-mate Dan Ballard.
Hume said: “It’s an honour and obviously I am really proud but I think anyone in our team probably could have got that, the likes of Shea Charles, Conor Bradley, Isaac (Price), Dan Ballard and Ethan Galbraith.
“We have a lot of players who have stepped up, especially young players. They have all been fantastic.”
Hume, who made his senior international debut in a friendly against Hungary in March 2022, has won 27 caps for his country to date.
The former Linfield and Ballymena United player scored his first senior international goal in a FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier against Slovakia back in the autumn. He netted the second of Northern Ireland’s goals in a 2-0 victory in Belfast.
