Northern Ireland to face Guinea in friendly

Northern Ireland senior men will take on Guinea in an international friendly this summer, it was confirmed today.

The game will take place on Thursday 4 June at the Estadio Ciudad de La Línea, La Línea de la Concepción, in the Province of Cádiz, Spain, with kick-off time to be confirmed.

It will be the first time the two nations have faced each other in an international match.

Guinea will be the fourth African nation Northern Ireland have played in a full international, following matches against South Africa, Algeria and, most recently, Morocco, when a friendly in Belfast in 2010 ended 1-1.

The fixture comes ahead of the game on Monday 8 June when Michael O’Neill’s team take on France in Lille.

Both matches will serve as preparation for the UEFA Nations League campaign, where the team will compete in League B, Group B2, facing a challenging trio of opponents: Hungary, Ukraine and Georgia across September, October and November this year.

Further details, including ticketing information, will be confirmed in due course.
