Hundreds of children and families enjoyed a weekend of football, fun and free activities as the McDonald's Fun Football Festivals proved a huge success across Northern Ireland.
The three-day festival tour visited Ebrington Square in Derry-Londonderry, Portstewart Strand and Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park in Belfast, with families travelling from across the country to take part in a packed programme of activities.
Across the weekend, children of all ages got involved in free coaching sessions delivered by Irish FA coaches, alongside a host of football-themed activities including speed of shot, passing and goalkeeping challenges, face painting, games, activity zones and giveaways.
The festivals also welcomed a number of special guests. Northern Ireland internationals Simone Magill and Steven Davis were on hand to meet families and inspire the next generation of footballers, while legendary goalkeeper Pat Jennings made a special appearance on the final day in Belfast. Presenters Bernadette Hagans and Pete Snodden also joined the celebrations across the weekend.
Speaking during the opening festival in Derry-Londonderry, Northern Ireland international Simone Magill highlighted the importance of introducing children to football from an early age.
"It's so important for any aspiring footballer. We all start at this level. Without it football doesn't exist. So it's great to have these opportunities for everyone."
The McDonald's Fun Football Festivals are part of McDonald's ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots football and encouraging more children to get active through fun, safe and inclusive football experiences.
With hundreds of young people taking part across the three locations, this year's festivals once again demonstrated the positive impact grassroots football can have in bringing communities together, inspiring the next generation and helping more children discover a love for the game.
