The Irish FA works with multiple partners to constantly monitor the betting markets within football in Northern Ireland.
We work closely with specialist companies who are constantly reviewing data and betting patterns from betting operators. In addition we have links with the betting operators themselves, the Gambling Commission and the regulatory body for betting operators in Northern Ireland.
All of these organisations are aware of Irish FA betting rules and advise of any abnormal patterns that arise in the cash, telephone and online betting markets.
Alongside the betting data monitoring, the Irish FA uses open source monitoring, assessing all social media platforms / forums etc, performance analysis, stakeholder outreach, worldwide information exchange and whistle blowers.
The Irish FA has the power to refer the matter to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and a criminal investigation may ensue.
