THE HISTORY OF THE IRISH CUP
First contested in 1881, the Clearer Water Irish Cup is the fourth oldest national cup competition in the world.
Current holders Dungannon Swifts defeated Cliftonville in May 2025 after extra-time and penalties to lift the trophy for the first time in the history of the club.
Linfield are the most successful team in the history of the competition, having won it 44 times and finishing runners-up on a further 22 occasions.
