Isaac Price sparked a brilliant West Brom fightback, netting a cheeky ‘Panenka’ penalty as the Baggies overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Blackburn Rovers 3-2 at The Hawthorns at the weekend.
The 23-year-old levelled the match with a 72nd-minute penalty, admitting he changed his approach after missing a spot-kick during Northern Ireland’s recent Nations League draw against Georgia.
“I needed to do something a little bit different,” said Price. “I obviously missed my last penalty for Northern Ireland, and I thought, no better time than to put one down the middle.
“In the back of my head, I was thinking, ‘If this doesn’t go in, there’s going to be a lot of angry people. I might have to do a U-turn and run down the tunnel’
“I said to my little brother last week. ‘I promise you, the next penalty I get, I’ll Panenka it.’ So when I stepped up, I thought, ‘I’m going to have to hold my word.’
“We came off a 2-1 win in midweek,” he added. “And I felt I was in a good place and performing well, so it was a good time to try it.”

Also on the scoresheet over the weekend was Brad Lyons, who hit an absolute screamer after just two minutes of Aberdeen’s 3-1 Scottish Premiership win at home to his former club St Mirren.
“We started brilliantly,” said Aberdeen boss Stephen Robinson, “It was a cracking goal from Brad, who unfortunately had to come off at half-time with a reaction to his knee.”
In the SWPL, Keri Halliday scored a brace and provided an assist as Hearts won 6–1 at home to Partick Thistle, while in England, Kerry Beattie also netted twice during Portsmouth’s 6–3 FA Women's National League South victory over Cheltenham Town.
In League One, a dramatic injury-time strike from substitute Shayne Lavery—his first goal of the season—secured a 2-1 away win for Cambridge United against Barnsley.
Speaking to the Cambridge Independent after the game, United boss Neil Harris said: “We know where Lavs is at; he’s an impact player, and he’s very, very good at it.
“We’ve got to try and keep him fit for as long as possible; he’s so important with the lift that he gives everybody and the infectious nature that he plays with.
“But also, what a very, very good player he is, and that’s what we saw in the second half.”
Meanwhile, Shea Charles helped Fulham secure their first Premier League victory of the season in a 1–0 win over Hull City at Craven Cottage, while Paddy McNair remained an unused substitute for the visitors.
Defender Trai Hume started in ten-man Sunderland's 2-0 loss to AFC Bournemouth, while 18-year-old Braiden Graham was an unused substitute in Everton's 2-0 home defeat against Chelsea, leaving him still waiting for his Premier League debut.
While he didn't feature for the senior squad, Graham did turn out for Everton’s U21 side on Friday night. He scored the winning goal in their 2-1 Premier League 2 clash against Middlesbrough, following an opening strike from fellow U21 international Jack Patterson.
Elsewhere, several Northern Ireland youth players were among the goals in the U18 Premier League this weekend. Eamon Tohill netted his sixth of the campaign for Middlesbrough, Broghan Sewell and Coran Madden struck for Southampton and Brentford respectively, and former Glenavon player Alfie Pollock scored his first of the season for Sunderland.
Finally, in the U18 Development League, winger Emmett Morrison found the net for the third time this term as Sheffield United drew 2-2 at home to Wigan Athletic.
