Northern Ireland Women's Under 17's were unable to get their first point of the Elite Stage campaign as they lost to current European Champions Spain.
The Under 17's started brightly and Spain conceded a corner after two mins and had two further free kicks but failed to get anything on target.
Keeper Lauren Currie was called upon to deny the visitors after 7 mins but only three minuters later they would take the lead. After some clever play through the middle, Eizaguirre provided the finish and also claimed her seocnd just two minutes later.
Spain would increase their lead to three before half time as Gutiérrez slotted home after great build up play.
Spain started the half as they had finished the first, strongly and got their 4th through Navarro.
Alison Nicholl's side worked very well to keep their shape to deny Spain and Currie was once again composed to keep the score at 4-0.
But she couldn't stop Navarro getting her second after 72 mins when Spain played between the lines to finish from close range as it finished 5-0 to the European Champions.
Northern Ireland Manager Alison Nicholl after the game said, “I am very proud of our girls who showed great strength of character against the current European Champions. Spain are technically the best sides we have played to date so to compete against such tough opposition was a great experience for the girls. We made ourselves compact and hard to break down and the girls worked very hard when out of possession.”
