The goals came thick and fast in the fonaCAB Craig Stanfield Junior Cup at the weekend as the Second Round produced a host of big victories and some outstanding individual scoring performances.
The designated ‘tie of the round’ at The Dub went the way of NAFL Division 2A side Kelvin OB, who defeated Ballymena outfit Harryville Homers 3-0.
Brandon Masson opened the scoring inside ten minutes, touching the ball home from the edge of the six-yard box, before Carson Elliott doubled the advantage shortly before the hour mark.
Elliot Ross completed the scoring in the closing stages when he raced into the area from the right, held off a defender and fired across goal into the far corner.
There was also success for Enniskillen Rangers, who followed up their elimination of outgoing holders Enniskillen Town United in the previous round by defeating Strabane Athletic Reserves.
Ardmore, champions in 2025, also secured their place in the Third Round with a victory over Villa Rovers, with Jack Coyle and Tiernan McKeever on target.
Rosario YC II, losing finalists last season, led the way in front of goal with a remarkable haul as they swept aside St. Teresa’s at Aquinas Grammar, with Thomas Doherty, Ryan Campbell and Daniel Goodacre each claiming hat-tricks.
Cregagh Wanderers, West End Hibs, Greencastle Rovers and Ahoghill Thistle also broke through the ten-goal mark during a high-scoring afternoon across the country.
The day’s leading individual scorer was Moyola Park Olympic’s Jake Berry, who struck five times in the victory over Oak City.
