Irish FA President Colin McKendry has met with UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin for the first time since his election in June, at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
McKendry was joined by Chief Executive Patrick Nelson for discussions on a range of football matters, including the development of the game across Europe and the important role national associations play in supporting football at every level.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the Irish FA’s ongoing work in Northern Ireland, including youth football development, investment in facilities and elite player pathways for both male and female players.
The Irish FA continues to work closely with UEFA on initiatives that support the growth of the game, create opportunities for participation and help develop the next generation of players, coaches and officials.
Following the meeting, Irish FA President Colin McKendry said: “It was a pleasure to meet UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and discuss the game at European level and the opportunities and challenges facing football.
“UEFA plays a vital role in supporting its member associations, and it is important that we in Northern Ireland continue to contribute to and benefit from that collective work. I look forward to continuing to build on the Irish FA’s strong relationship with UEFA for the benefit of football at all levels in Northern Ireland.”
