Linfield’s Paul Smyth is confident ahead of Estonia opener

As Ian Baraclough’s U21 squad continue preparations for their European qualifier against Estonia, forward Paul Smyth is looking forward to Thursday’s opening match.

The Linfield forward is delighted to be involved again and insists the squad have gelled well following their recent training camp.

He said: “There’s a buzz in the squad and there are no nerves as we all got to know each other in the training camp we were in recently.”

“All the boys are buzzing for the game because they’ve come over [to Estonia], travelled a long way and want to play the first game, as I do myself, and try and get the three points.”

Northern Ireland U21s take on Estonia on Thursday at Kadrioru Stadium in Tallinn, kicking off at 16.00 (UK time).

Northern Ireland will also face Spain, Slovakia, Iceland and Albania in Qualifying Group 2.
