International Women’s Day - Let Them Play

Before the reception begins between 4pm and 6pm there will be cage football and skill demonstrations from our regional excellence girls taking place outside parliament buildings.

Sue O’Neill – Chairperson of NIWFAcommented, “I am delighted to celebrate 40 years of the NIWFA with so many great women who have contributed to the success of women’s football in Northern Ireland.”

Michael Boyd, Irish FA Director of Football Development added, “It is fantastic to be celebrating 40 years of the Northern Ireland Women’s Football Association today at Stormont with support from the DCAL Minister. We have set ambitious targets for growing girls and women’s football across Northern Ireland over the next ten years in our youth strategy Let Them Play and our Girls/Women’s Plan. The NIWFA have championed the promotion of girls and women’s football over the last 40yrs, not just in participation terms but in the social well-being of girls and women in football. I want to take this opportunity to thank the NIWFA and all the volunteers in the girls/women’s game for their drive growing and sustaining the game here. We look forward to working in partnership with them over the next 40 years!”
