Polish test for U17 Women

Northern Ireland Women U17's face Poland in an international double header in Ballymoney in preparation for the forthcoming European Championship qualifiers.

The games, to be played at the Riada Stadium, take place on Thursday 4th (kick-off 7:30pm) and Saturday 6th August (kick-off 12:30pm).Admission to both is free.

Alison Nicholl's side reached the Elite Stage last time out with half of that squad remaining in the panel to be joined by the best emerging talent from the U15 Development and County squads.

Nicholl is keen to use these two games with Poland to assess the new arrivals.

"The girls coming through are continually being better prepared and better developed, bringing with them different attributes.

The games next week will give the coaching staff a chance to take a good look at them," she said. Looking forward to the qualifiers themselves, Northern Ireland are off to Macedonia at end of next month to face the hosts, plus Austria and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

"There are no easy games and Austria in particular are very, very good," said Nicholl.

"But we qualified from a group containing Bosnia and Macedonia last time and we'll be targeting them again this time round.

The girls have been given lots of training and every chance to properly prepare so we'll go to Macedonia with every chance of giving a good account of ourselves."
