Camp is phase one of preparations for U19 Euro 2022 qualifiers

New Northern Ireland U19s boss Gerard Lyttle has chosen a 22-strong squad for a five-day training camp in Belfast next week.

With the U19 Euros scheduled for Romania this summer cancelled by UEFA, and three qualifiers for Northern Ireland due to take place this month in Sweden scrapped as a result, Lyttle has instead had to organise the camp as the first phase of preparations for U19 Euro 2022 qualifiers in October.

His panel features a couple of players who have not been involved in the Northern Ireland set-up before, either with the U17s or JD Club NI. The new faces are Northampton Town goalkeeper Dylan Berry and Bournemouth striker Marcus Daws.

This autumn the U19s will play Czech Republic, Denmark and Kazakhstan (Group 13) in a four-team mini tournament in the qualifying round for the U19 Euros in Slovakia in the summer of 2022. Those games will be played from 6 to 12 October in the Czech Republic.

The squad for the U19s training camp is:

Goalkeepers – Conor Manderson (Portsmouth), Dylan Berry (Northampton Town).

Defenders – Harry Wilson (Fleetwood Town), Lewis MacKinnon (Rangers), Aaron Donnelly (Nottingham Forest), Michael Forbes (West Ham United), Shea Charles (Manchester City), Cameron Stewart (Ipswich Town), Sean McAllister (Everton), Brodie Spencer (Huddersfield Town), Dane McCullough (Burnley), Matty Carson (Southampton).

Midfielders – Charlie Allen (Leeds United), Caolan McBride (Aston Villa), Charlie Lindsay (Rangers), Isaac Price (Everton), Oisin Conaty (Portadown), Jamie McDonnell (Nottingham Forest).

Forwards - Euan Williams (Charlton), Dale Taylor (Nottingham Forest), Ross McCausland (Rangers), Marcus Daws (Bournemouth).
