Switch of venue for Albania game

The venue for the Northern Ireland senior women’s team’s penultimate game in their first UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign has been changed.

Northern Ireland Women are due to play Albania away on Friday 1 December prior to facing Republic of Ireland at home four days later.

The League B Group 1 game against the Albanians was meant to have been played at the Loro Borici Stadium in Shkoder.

However, following issues with the pitch at Shkoder during last month’s Women’s Nations League game between Albania and the Republic, UEFA has confirmed a venue change for Northern Ireland’s forthcoming fixture against the Albanians.

The match on 1 December will now be played at the National Stadium (Arena Kombëtare/Air Albania Stadium) in Tirana, with a 1600 kick-off UK time.

So far in B1 the Republic, who are top seeds, have won all four of their games and have therefore won the group, while second seeds Northern Ireland have won one, drawn one and lost two. Their victory came against the Albanians in Belfast (1-0).

Hungary are second in B1 with five points from four games, while Northern Ireland are in third on four points.

Prior to the 5 December clash in Belfast, the Republic will face Hungary in Dublin on 1 December.

Tickets for the UWNL match against the Republic next month are now on sale. They are priced at £14 for adults and £7 for juniors, with groups of 10 or more being discounted to £10 for adults and £5 for juniors.
