SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING DAY

CO-ORDINATORS from the Irish FA’s new Co-operative Insurance Football Development Centres programme will be at Stranmillis College in Belfast on Sunday for a Skills Development Training Day.

The day will be tutored by Alfred Galustian, who is the International Director of Coerver Coaching and his assistant, Austin Speight, Coerver UK / Ireland Director.

Alfred has worked as coaching consultant to the English Schools’ Football Association, the Italian Coaching Association, the French Football Federation, the Japanese Football Association – and also many of the J League Clubs in Japan, as well as Arsenal, Everton, Auxerre and Parma.

Austin, who is originally from Belfast; is a UEFA Pro Licence and UEFA A Licence coach and English FA tutor. He has been a coach at West Ham (1992-95); Stockport County (1995-98), Manchester City (1998-99), Blackburn Rovers (1999-06) and Crewe Alexandra (2006-08).

Alfred and Austin are currently coaching as consultants to various pro clubs in the UK as well as National Associations. The pair has worked all over the world – from Japan and the USA to Australia and the Middle East - with various National Associations delivering coach education sessions.

IFA Grassroots Development Manager, Ian Stewart said: “This training day will underpin and enhance the training programme for each Co-operative Skills Development Centre and will insure that all licenced centres are working towards enhancing the learning and playing experiences available to young footballers.”

This weekend’s Skills Development Training Day will also provide the co-ordinators from the Centres with an opportunity to learn from two internationally renowned coaching consultants.
