Northern Ireland senior men's March friendlies announced

Northern Ireland senior men’s team will play two away friendlies in March.

Michael O'Neill's men travel to face both Romania and Scotland in the squad's first international window of 2024.

The game against Romania is due to be staged at the Arena Națională, Bucharest on Friday 22 March (kick-off time to be confirmed).

Hampden Park in Glasgow will be the venue for the friendly against Scotland on Tuesday 26 March (7.45pm kick-off).

Both the Romanians and the Scots have qualified for UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany next summer.

Romania booked their place after topping Qualifying Group I with six wins and four draws. Switzerland also qualified from the group, pipping Israel to second place. Belarus, Kosovo and Andorra were in Group I, too.

In Germany the Romanians will be competing in Group E alongside Belgium, Slovakia and a play-off winner.

Scotland qualified after they finished runners-up in Qualifying Group A to Spain. Norway finished third in a group which also featured Georgia and Cyprus.

Next summer the Scots will face hosts Germany, Hungary and Switzerland in Group A at Euro 2024.

Northern Ireland are set to play four friendlies in 2024 – two in March and two in June – before the next UEFA Nations League campaign begins in the autumn.

Ticket information for Romania and Scotland matches will follow in the New Year.
