Irish FA Coaching Licence Revalidation and Safeguarding Requirements 

All coaches holding Irish FA Coaching qualifications and/or UEFA Coaching Licences must revalidate their award/licence by undertaking the required amount of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and by completing the Irish FA Safeguarding Module every 3 years.

To successfully revalidate your Irish FA coaching qualifications/or UEFA Licence you must undertake and complete the following before your coaching award/licence renewal date:

Irish FA Level 1:

All Irish FA Level 1 coaches may revalidate their award and attain the required number CPD Credits by attending official Irish FA CPD events, before your coaching award/licence renewal date.

Coaches with an existing Irish FA Level 1 award who successfully enrol and complete the next level of coaching qualification will automatically revalidate their existing coaching award/licence.

Please note that all Level 1 Coaches must also revalidate their Irish FA Safeguarding qualification after attending an official Irish FA CPD event.

Irish FA 'C' Certificate (UEFA B Part 1), UEFA B and UEFA A Licences:

1) All coaches must attain a maximum of 15 CPD Credits through the Irish FA within 3 years from the date of your current award or last revalidation, which can be obtained as follows:

(Please note that 5 CPD Credits equates approximately to one day of professional development/learning);   

UK & Ireland based coaches:

a) a maximum of 5 CPD Credits can be achieved by completing one of the Irish FA's online CPD courses.

Simply login to your Irish FA Learning Platform Dashboard area and then click onto the "Revalidate/CPD" tab to select & purchase a course appropriate to your current award/licence level. Once completed, your CPD credits will be updated automatically within your "My CPD" area.

b) All coaches may obtain the remaining 10 CPD Credits by attending official Irish FA CPD events before your coaching award/licence renewal date.

c) Coaches with an existing Irish FA or UEFA award who successfully enrol and complete the next level of coaching qualification will automatically revalidate their existing coaching award/licence.

d) a maximum of 5 CPD Credits may also be achieved by submitting evidence of CPD completed externally, via a provider approved by the Irish FA Coach Education Department.

Evidence confirming your attendance at an approved, external CPD event must be submitted to the Irish FA Coach Education Department via the "My CPD" area of the Irish FA Learning Platform for review and approval, before your coaching award/licence renewal date.

Coaches based outside the UK & Ireland:

Coaches in this category can obtain CPD Credits in the following ways:

a) by completing the appropriate Irish FA online CPD Courses, up to a maximum of 15 CPD Credits.

Simply login to your Irish FA Learning Platform Dashboard area and then click onto the "Revalidate/CPD" tab to select & puchase a course appropriate to your current award/licence level. Once completed, your CPD credits will be updated automatically within your "My CPD" area.

b) All coaches based overseas may also obtain the remaining 10 CPD Credits by attending official Irish FA CPD events before your coaching award/licence renewal date.

c) Coaches with an existing Irish FA or UEFA award who successfully enrol and complete the next level of coaching qualification will automatically revalidate their existing coaching award/licence.

d) a maximum of 5 CPD Credits may also be achieved by submitting evidence of CPD completed externally via a provider approved by the Irish FA Coach Education Department.

2) Safeguarding: 

All coaches must also renew their Irish FA Safeguarding qualification by completing the Irish FA's online Safeguarding Course - as shown in the image below. Once successfully completed your Safeguarding status will be updated automatically.
