Stuart Dallas grabs his eighth goal of the season

The versatile Stuart Dallas scored his eighth goal of the season as Leeds United moved up to 10th place in the Premier League table after easing to a 3-1 victory over Spurs at Elland Road at the weekend.

The 30-year-old, who has been nominated for April’s Premier League Player of the Month Award, gave the Yorkshire outfit a 13th minute lead as they looked to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion last week.

Speaking to LUTV, Dallas said: “I am delighted first and foremost that I got the goal, but for the team as well it’s important that we don’t just settle for the position we’re in this year.

“I was playing in a different position again today, playing as a winger and rolling back the years!

“I think we owed the fans a performance,” added Dallas, who has been an ever present for all bar 10 minutes in the Premier League this season. “Last week we were well below the standards we have set ourselves throughout the season.”

Following United’s 15th win of the season, head coach Marcelo Bielsa also praised the former Crusaders player.

Due to the experience I have working with him, I consider him a player with a lot of resources,” declared Bielsa. “What he attempts is simple, but he has a lot of possibilities to impose it.

And apart from that he’s a tireless worker, throughout the week and during the games. And he is an example for all of us.”

In the Championship, midfielder Corry Evans signed off his Blackburn Rovers career in style after providing two assists for the home side’s last two goals in the 5-2 victory over Birmingham City at Ewood Park.

The 30-year-old Evans, who is currently the club’s longest serving player, was informed last week by Rovers’ boss Tony Mowbray that his contract was not being renewed in the summer.

“Corry is an immense young man, an international footballer,” said Mowbray. “He has plenty going for him and I’m sure there will be plenty of takers for him.

“I have no doubt that not only will he find a new club, but it will be at a good level.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Ali McCann can look forward to a second cup final this season after St Johnstone made it through to the Scottish Cup decider following a narrow 2-1 success over St Mirren at Hampden Park on Sunday.

Also on the scoresheet over the weekend were teenager Sean McAllister, who hit a brace for Everton U18s in their 4-3 home defeat to Sunderland’s youth team, and Carl Winchester who scored his first goal for Sunderland’s senior side in their 1-1 draw at home to Northampton Town.

“Buzzing to score, it was about time too,” Winchester told the Black Cats website. “It’s always nice to get the first goal and hopefully I will get a few more now.

“It’s always hard moving club especially to one as big as Sunderland. I’ve never experienced anything like this but I’m slowly finding my feet.

“Everyone at the club has been brilliant, from the gaffer to the players. Everyone has helped me.”

Finally, on the last day of the Football League season there was disappointment for Rochdale's Northern Ireland quartet of Ryan McLaughlin, Callum Camps, Matty Lund and Stephen Dooley after the Lancashire side were relegated to League Two despite a comprehensive 3-0 victory at MK Dons.
