LURGAN Park was the venue for the latest IFA Level One coaching course in Craigavon.
Run over three Sundays, 22 coaches took part in the course which included a series of modules and lectures on areas such as First Aid, Child Protection and Rules of the Game.
All the coaches were assessed over the three days and before the final assessment stage everyone now has to complete a training log. A certificate is then issued to everyone who successfully completes the course. Clubs involved were Armagh City, Celtic Boys, Craigavon City, Glenavon, Loughall, Lurgan Celtic and Lurgan Town as well as coaches from Craigavon Borough Council's successful Midnight Soccer Programme.
"By having more coaches taking the first step on to the coaching ladder will be of great benefit to the local clubs and their players" said the Irish FA's Grassroots Development Officer for the Craigavon area, Keith Gibson. Keith added: "I would like to thank Leeann and Glenn of the Lurgan Park staff who couldn't have been more helpful. It was pleasing to see another full course with many local clubs realising the value of investing in their coaches."
Following on from this it is hoped that another course will be held before the summer. If you require any information about the grassroots programme in Craigavon please contact Keith on 07809657879 or kgibson@irishfa.com
