The Northern Ireland Under 16 team faces top opposition in the next fortnight. They travel to Poland next week for two matches on 15th and 17th April and on 22nd April will entertain the Netherlands at Ballymena.
Northern Ireland Under 16 Manager, Dessie Curry, is excited about the prospect of these games. “We have a very good relationship with the Polish FA and were delighted to accept the invitation to play two games at Nowy Sacz. Our games with Poland have always been very tight. The last time we met was 6 years ago when we won 2-1. Jonny Evans was captain on that occasion. I hope for a similar result again and that some of the players can go on to greater heights like Evans” added Curry.
“I am also delighted that we are playing the Netherlands, one of the top five rated countries in the world. The Dutch youth policy is renowned for producing technically gifted players and it will be good for the boys to play against high quality opponents” commented the manager.
The game against the Netherlands is at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Wednesday 22nd April, kick off 7.30 pm.
