U23 INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGE TROPHY

Northern Ireland will complete against republic of Ireland in an international challenge trophy match tomorrow evening at Mourneview park, Lurgan.

The U23 International Challenge Trophy match between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will be played on Tuesday 13 May at Mourneview Park, Lurgan, Kick-off:  7.45 p.m.  The team from Northern Ireland, managed by David Jeffrey, is made up of U23 players from the Carnegie Premier League, and the team from the Republic of Ireland, managed by Pat Fenlon, is made up of players from the eircom League of Ireland. 

Admission is payable at the turnstiles priced £5 for adults and £3 for concessions and senior citizens.

The International Challenge Trophy is an international competition played over this season and next season by representative teams from the following eight countries:

  • Belgium
  • England
  • Finland
  • Italy
  • Northern Ireland
  • Republic of Ireland
  • Slovakia
  • Wales

The teams have been drawn into two groups of four and each team will play the other teams in their group once (either home or away) with the group winners contesting the final in February/March 2009.  The first round of matches was played in November/December 2007 (see results below).
