PREMIERSHIP REFEREE MIKE RILEY VISITS BANBRIDGE
Premiership referee Mike Riley was the guest speaker at a seminar on Monday 3 December in the Bannville House Hotel, Banbridge when he addressed nearly sixty referees, assistant referees and referee observers.
The main subject of his presentation was the use of the referee communication systems and the benefits these provide to the officials during a game.
Mike provided the audience with many hints and tips, using examples of his experiences in the Premier League and in European competitions to illustrate best practice.
The seminar was attended by senior referees and assistant referees, referee observers, and members of the IFA Referee Development Group, and also a large group of Mid Ulster referees who kindly hosted the meeting.
In the near future referees in N.Ireland will be able to use the communication systems as two sets have been ordered by the Irish FA and this introduction by Mike Riley was of great benefit to all present.
